Over the last two decades, the integration of migrats has become an ever more essential element of governmental policy in Austria. While in the post-war-era of consociationalism the subject had been left to to the key interest groups (trade unions, labour market authorities and employers’ associations) and selected administration experts, it has since become central in Austrian government - institutionally as well as in terms of policy.
